Jan G. Voelkel is an Assistant Professor at the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy and the Department of Sociology at Cornell University. His research explores how micro-level preferences for equality and unity translate into macro-level political decisions, focusing on democratic attitudes, partisan dynamics, and moral framing. Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology, Stanford University M.S. in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Tilburg University B.S. in Social Sciences, University of Cologne Voelkel’s work spans political psychology, metascience, and social policy, with a focus on interventions to reduce anti-democratic attitudes, partisan animosity, and gender bias in political leadership. His recent articles emphasize large-scale collaborations, reproducibility, and cross-partisan empathy.
