Héctor Eutimio Hernández Arocha is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English and German Philology at the University of La Laguna. His academic career spans multiple European institutions including positions at the University of Leipzig, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, University of Salamanca, University of Erfurt, and University of Verona. Dr. Hernández Arocha earned his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Leipzig in 2013. His professional journey includes a replacement professorship in Romance Linguistics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2014-15), a research position at the Cátedra de Altos Estudios del Español at the University of Salamanca (2015), a post-doc position at the University of Erfurt (2016-18), and an Assistant Professor role at the Universidad Europea de Canarias (2019-2020) before his current position. His primary research interests focus on Formal Semantics, Word Families in diachronic and synchronic Morphology, and the Syntax-Semantics Interface. Additional areas of expertise include Type-Logical Grammar and Theoretical Linguistics. His scholarly work demonstrates particular attention to German and Spanish linguistic structures, semantic analysis, and language acquisition processes.
