Carina Elmqvist is an Adjunct Professor in Caring Science with a focus on emergency care at Linnaeus University's Department of Health and Caring Sciences, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She also serves as Research Director at Region Kronoberg and Clinical Professor at the acute clinic. Her work bridges academia and clinical practice, emphasizing interprofessional collaboration and patient-centered care. Her research explores emergency care interactions, heat conservation during surgery, non-conveyance decisions in ambulance services, and the role of touch in intensive care. Key projects include the 'Eir' compassion course for healthcare professionals and the 'ECA' project addressing ethical care for older adults. She leads the Pain Research Group and the Centre for Interprofessional Collaboration within Emergency Care (CICE). Publications span 20+ years, focusing on clinical practice improvements, patient experiences, and interprofessional dynamics. She has supervised seven PhD students to completion and currently advises four more. Her work is internationally recognized through collaborations with institutions like the University of Calgary and University of Technology Sydney.
