Robert L. Fogerty is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of General Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He also serves as Senior Medical Director, Clinical Leadership at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he supports medical directors across multiple clinical specialties. Dr. Fogerty is a founding member of the Academic Hospitalist Program at Yale, which he joined in 2011.
Dr. Fogerty received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston College in 2002, followed by his MD and MPH degrees from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in 2008. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2011.
Dr. Fogerty's research focuses on improving healthcare delivery through enhanced safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness in inpatient settings. His work spans hospital operations, patient flow management, value-based care implementation, and quality improvement initiatives. He has made significant contributions to understanding hospital capacity management during surges, including the influenza season and the COVID-19 pandemic. His expertise in high-value care has led to national recognition and leadership roles in developing educational curricula for physicians.

He also serves on the Yale University Provost's Committee on Conflict of Interest and is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine's Chapter Support Committee.
