Lori Dithurbide is an Associate Professor in Kinesiology at the School of Health and Human Performance, Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on psychosocial aspects of sport, including human-technology interactions and group dynamics in athletic contexts. Dr. Dithurbide holds a PhD from Michigan State University, an MA from Brock University, and a BA (Honours Psychology) from Saint Mary’s University.
Her work examines how athletes and coaches interact with technology in training/competition and explores trust dynamics within teams. She is certified as a Mental Performance Consultant by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and holds a High-Performance Certification (Mental Performance) from Sport Scientist Canada. Her research emphasizes practical applications to enhance learning, confidence, and performance outcomes through technology integration and team cohesion strategies.
Recent articles highlight trends in trust dynamics (e.g., interdependent sport teams, automated systems), technology adoption in golf, and mental health among community sport coaches. She has also studied personality traits related to choking susceptibility and the impact of pandemics on athlete mental performance.
Dr. Dithurbide collaborates across disciplines, including stroke care simulations and military command systems, to apply sport psychology principles to broader team environments. Her work emphasizes real-world applicability, bridging theory and practice in high-performance contexts.
