Miguel Ángel Martínez Domingo is an Associate Professor at the University of Granada , affiliated with the Department of Optics and the Color Imaging Lab . His work bridges color science , hyperspectral imaging , and computer vision , with applications in cultural heritage , food authentication , and visual perception . Education : B.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering (Image and Sound) from University of Málaga (2007); Erasmus Mundus International Master's in "Color in Informatics and Media Technology" (2010-2012), ranked 1st in Spain. Ph.D. : Physics and Space Sciences (University of Granada, 2017; Summa Cum Laude). His research focuses on multispectral and HDR imaging for urban scene segmentation, cultural heritage restoration , and food quality analysis . He has pioneered algorithms for exposure time estimation and dehazing , while exploring color vision deficiency compensation and nocturnal camouflage . Recent work includes: Classifying inks in historical documents via hyperspectral imaging and machine learning. Developing sustainable methodologies for food authentication (wholemeal bread). Studying pigment unmixing in medieval plasterwork and limewash removal. Analyzing camouflage under moonlight for ecological adaptation. Awards include the Best Poster Award at the VISUM summer school (2016). He has served as a guest editor for journals like Sensors and Computation , and contributed to educational projects such as a didactic optics book for high schools. Collaborations span institutions in Portugal , Japan , and Europe through H2020 RISE projects.
