Hyeongseon Jeon is a Tenure-track Assistant Professor and Presidential Frontier Faculty (PFF) in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM). He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Health Systems & Population Health Sciences (HSPHS) at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. His research integrates statistical methodologies with biological applications, focusing on spatial transcriptomics, gene expression analysis, and machine learning for healthcare and environmental data. Jeon’s work addresses challenges in multiple testing, data visualization, and computational tools for high-throughput biological datasets. He collaborates across disciplines to advance understanding in cancer immunology, lung biology, and genetic disease mechanisms. His recent publications emphasize spatial transcriptomics experimental design, CAR T-cell therapy biomarkers, and e-cigarette impact on respiratory health. Key areas of focus include developing statistical frameworks for spatial transcriptomics (e.g., spaDesign, Maple) and analyzing immune responses in cancer patients. His research bridges computational innovation with translational medicine, aiming to improve diagnostic and therapeutic strategies through data-driven approaches. No scientific awards or advising records are explicitly listed in the provided materials. His office is located in PGH 629, and he can be reached via hsjeon@central.uh.edu.
