Lysanne te Brinke is an Assistant Professor at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on how interpersonal and societal experiences shape adaptive (e.g., community engagement) and maladaptive (e.g., antisocial behavior) outcomes in adolescents. She leads the Healthy Start ambition on youth participation and co-leads the YoungXperts platform, integrating youth voices into research through transdisciplinary approaches. Her work emphasizes participatory research methods, including co-creation sessions with adolescents, educators, and policymakers. Key projects include leveraging youth contributions to societal challenges and reframing policy narratives to enhance youth participation. She holds a VENI grant for studying adolescents as agents of change and co-led research awarded an NWA Science Communication Grant and a societal engagement award from the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. Te Brinke serves as President of the Early Researchers Union of the European Association of Developmental Psychology, advocating for early-career researchers. Her research spans social psychology, developmental neuroscience, and policy design, with a focus on translating findings into actionable societal interventions. She actively collaborates with the Society, Youth & Neuroscience Connected (SYNC) Lab, exploring how youth develop into socially responsible adults.
