Dr. Prakash Bhagat serves as an Academic Visitor in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University. He collaborates extensively with Prof. Ari Sadanandom and has previously worked on the FRASS project alongside Dr. Elaine Fitches and FRASS Industries. He holds a PhD from the National Institute of Plant Genome Research, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi (2019), where he studied MAPK signaling in plant growth. His postgraduate research at the University of Lucknow focused on plant defense mechanisms involving peroxidases. His research interests center on post-translational modifications such as SUMOylation and phosphorylation, exploring their roles in plant responses to environmental stimuli. Key areas include epigenetic regulation, plant hormone biology (ABA and auxin), and biotechnological applications of molecular insights. Dr. Bhagat’s recent studies emphasize the interplay between SUMOylation and temperature sensing in plants, as well as light-mediated developmental pathways. His work bridges fundamental research and applied plant science, addressing challenges in crop resilience and growth regulation. Awards: Best Flash Talk award at International Symposium on Plant Photobiology 2024 Best Poster Award at Research Away Day 2024 His research has been supported through collaborative projects like the FRASS initiative. While his profile does not explicitly mention student advisement, his contributions to miRNA biogenesis and stress response studies reflect active engagement in molecular plant biology research. He is affiliated with Prof. Ari Sadanandom’s lab and has participated in interdisciplinary teams focusing on plant signaling mechanisms.
