Michelle Mondoux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Neuroscience at the College of the Holy Cross. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University. Her research focuses on understanding cellular and genetic responses to glucose stress in Caenorhabditis elegans, particularly how excess glucose impacts fertility, lifespan, and intergenerational effects. Her lab explores insulin signaling pathways and O-GlcNAc modification mechanisms. She has contributed to studies linking glucose stress to aging and immunity, identifying key genes like ogt-1 and oga-1. Dr. Mondoux also develops integrative STEM education strategies, emphasizing interdisciplinary learning in undergraduate neuroscience and biology courses. Her work bridges molecular biology with pedagogical innovation.
Research projects include unbiased genetic screens to identify novel genes connecting insulin signaling and glucose stress, with over 100 candidates identified. Her publications span from 2022 to 2007, covering metabolism, aging, and educational methodologies. Collaborations involve molecular biology, genetics, and systems biology approaches to unravel metabolic stress responses in model organisms. She actively engages in curriculum design to enhance student engagement in lab environments, comparing live and virtual learning outcomes.
