Prof. Kesong Yang is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering at the University of California San Diego. He holds a PhD in Atomic and Molecular Physics from Shandong University (2010) and completed postdoctoral research at Duke University (2010-2013). His research focuses on computational materials science, particularly first-principles modeling of nanomaterials for advanced applications in energy, electronics, and catalysis. Key research areas include materials design using high-throughput computational methods, magnetic heterostructure engineering, and interface effects in perovskite oxides. His work emphasizes understanding electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of materials for functional nanomaterials development. Notable projects involve optimizing TiO₂-based photocatalysts, designing 2D electron gas systems, and developing novel Heusler alloy interfaces for spintronics.
