Noor Gammoh is a CRUK Career Development Fellow and UoE Reader at the University of Edinburgh's Institute of Genetics and Cancer within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. She leads the Brain Cancer Survival Pathways research group focusing on autophagy mechanisms in glioblastoma. Her laboratory operates from the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre at the Western General Hospital. Her research centers on autophagy regulation in cellular stress responses and its dual role in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer progression. Key areas include: Mechanistic studies of autophagy in brain tumor survival pathways PDGFRA-dependent oncogenic signaling interactions with autophagy Lysosomal degradation processes in glioblastoma Therapeutic targeting of autophagy components (ATG5, ATG16L1, LC3) Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on brain cancer therapeutic resistance mechanisms , particularly how autophagy supports PDGFRA-driven glioblastoma progression through metabolic adaptation and signaling modulation. Her work increasingly integrates CRISPR screening with in vivo RCAS glioma models to identify novel therapeutic targets.
