Eva Freitag serves as a Lecturer in Violoncello at the Berlin University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, within the Institute for Artistic Training - Orchestral Instruments and Conducting, a position she has held since 2006. She concurrently maintains a permanent assistant role at the Konzerthausorchester Berlin since 2011. Her artistic practice centers on classical cello performance across five continents as principal cellist of the European Union Chamber Orchestra, with solo appearances at major festivals including Martinu Festival (Brno), Bregenz Festival, and Aldeburgh Festival. She pioneers experimental approaches through 'Berlin String Construction'—an ensemble founded in 2009 that merges staged concerts with improvisation—while maintaining active chamber music collaborations with DSO Berlin and NDR Hamburg. Freitag's educational commitment spans institutional teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts and humanitarian work with the Barenboim-Said Foundation (2006-2008), where she instructed Palestinian children in West Bank refugee camps and performed alongside Daniel Barenboim, demonstrating music's role in cultural diplomacy. Her professional network includes guest performances with Berliner Philharmoniker, Philharmonia Orchestra London, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra, alongside principal roles in Ensemble Resonanz and Camerata Berlin, reflecting deep integration within Europe's premier musical institutions.
