David Geringas is a Lithuanian-German cellist, conductor, and educator serving as Professor at the Lübeck Higher School of Music. Renowned for his interpretations of classical and contemporary repertoire, he actively promotes Lithuanian compositions through international performances with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra.
His educational background includes:
- Cello studies at MK Čiurlionis School of Arts under Mikhail Shenderov
- Graduation from Moscow Conservatory (1968) in Mstislav Rostropovich's class
Geringas specializes in bridging traditional and modern musical expressions, notably premiering works by Lithuanian composers Osvaldas Balakauskas, Vytautas Barkauskas, and Bronius Kutavičius.
