Dr. Terence Wuerz is an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba , affiliated with the Max Rady College of Medicine , where he works in the Department of Community Health Sciences and holds a cross-appointment in the Section of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Internal Medicine. Education : Doctor of Medicine (2007), University of Manitoba; Master of Sciences in Epidemiology (2018), University of London; Fellowships in Internal Medicine (2011, Dalhousie University) and Infectious Diseases (2012, University of Manitoba); Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (2012), University of Alabama. His research focuses on clinical infectious diseases , antimicrobial resistance , and optimal antimicrobial use . Notably, he co-founded the Manitoba AMR Alliance in 2022, a web-based platform aimed at promoting antimicrobial stewardship through clinical tools and education. He leads national and international multi-site clinical trials investigating therapies for infections like S. aureus , C. difficile , and COVID-19 , emphasizing responsible antimicrobial prescribing to mitigate resistance and improve patient outcomes. Dr. Wuerz has extensive clinical experience as an internist in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, before transitioning to academia. His work bridges epidemiology, public health, and clinical practice to enhance healthcare quality through evidence-based antimicrobial strategies and interprofessional collaboration.
