Haddish Melakeberhan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. His research focuses on integrated and sustainable nematode management, nutrient cycling, and soil health management in cropping systems. PhD in Nematology/Biology from Simon Fraser University (1986) MSc in Nematology from Imperial College, University of London (1980) Diploma in Agriculture from Ambo Institute of Agriculture (1974) Diploma in Crop Protection from Harper Adams College (1978) Research interests center on nematode community analyses-based models (Soil Food Web, Fertilizer Use Efficiency, Integrated Productivity Efficiency) to assess sustainable soil health outcomes. His work examines how agricultural practices influence plant-nematode-soil interactions at organism and ecosystem levels. Recent publications demonstrate expertise in nematode-mediated soil health diagnostics, compost application effects, and sustainable management strategies across diverse ecosystems. His models integrate biological, mathematical, and ecological principles for scalable agroecological solutions. Coordinated regional research projects (W-5186, NC-1197, NE-2140) Developed practical soil health assessment frameworks adopted by diagnostic labs Active in extension programs for sustainable soil management education Collaborates with international institutions on tropical/subtropical agroecosystems
