Catherine M. Schrand is the Celia Z. Moh Professor of Accounting at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania , where she has been a faculty member since 1994. Her research focuses on disclosure, earnings quality, and risk management , with a strong emphasis on corporate governance and financial reporting. Education : PhD (1994) and BBA (University of Michigan) from the University of Chicago. Industry Experience : Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) with prior roles as staff auditor and audit manager at KPMG Peat Marwick. Her research examines how firms use disclosure strategies to compete for investor resources, the role of executive overconfidence in financial misreporting, and the cost of capital implications of voluntary disclosure . She has contributed to debates on revenue recognition standards and institutional investment patterns in industry-specific stocks.
