Aaron Wilson is an Associate Professor in the School of Accountancy at Ohio University's College of Business and serves as Director of the Online MBA program. He holds a Ph.D. in Business (Accounting) from Washington State University, a Master of Accountancy from Wright State University, and a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University. His professional background includes five years as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and roles in nonprofit management. Wilson is a Certified Public Accountant (Ohio) and Certified Fraud Examiner.
Wilson's research focuses on fraud detection, whistleblowing dynamics, audit practices, and emerging financial technologies like cryptocurrency and DAOs. His work examines how organizational structures, regulatory environments, and technological advancements influence ethical reporting behaviors. Notable research areas include SEC reward provisions, nonprofit asset diversions, and the impact of audit firm tenure on reporting intentions.
His publications analyze topics ranging from pandemic financial impacts to AI's role in accounting education. Professional service includes active participation in the American Accounting Association and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Beyond academia, Wilson maintains a goat farm and beekeeping operation in the Athens area.
