Nida Naveed is a Senior Lecturer and Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of Sunderland. With over 15 years of combined academia and industry experience, she specializes in additive manufacturing, materials engineering, and structural mechanics. Her research focuses on 3D printing technologies, residual stress analysis in metals, and sustainable manufacturing processes. She holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from The Open University (OU) and advanced degrees in Structural and Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan. Additionally, she is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Dr. Naveed teaches modules in mechanical technology, applied mechanics, and engineering mathematics, leading the BEng final-year project module across global campuses. She supervises postgraduate and undergraduate research projects in the UK and overseas partner institutions. Her current research projects include exploring atomic diffusion additive manufacturing (ADAM) and optimizing thermal management for LED illuminators. Her expertise spans AM technologies like FDM, SLA, and ADAM, with applications in aerospace, automotive, and medical industries. She actively seeks collaborations to advance sustainable manufacturing practices and has contributed to industry-academia partnerships through roles at The Open University and Newcastle National College Group.
