معرفی
Shuk Choi is a Visitor Faculty member in the Department of Applied Physics at Aalto University's School of Science, actively contributing to nanoscale quantum research through the EU Horizon Europe ERC project GETREAL (2025-2029).
Education:
- Doctor of Science (Technology) in Technical Physics, Aalto University (awarded March 31, 2025)
Choi's research centers on atomic-scale phenomena using scanning probe microscopy to investigate non-covalent interactions and self-assembly processes. Key expertise includes real-space imaging of molecular structures, surface science, and quantum state engineering in van der Waals heterostructures, with emerging integration of machine learning for quantum material design.
Choi's doctoral thesis established foundational methodology for observing non-covalent interactions at molecular scales, directly enabling current work on quantum state realization in the GETREAL project.
Research engagement:
- GETREAL: Realizing designer quantum states van der Waals heterostructures (EU Horizon Europe ERC), 2025-2029 – Project Member under Principal Investigator Peter Liljeroth
Choi collaborates within Aalto University's atomic-scale physics team, utilizing advanced scanning probe microscopy infrastructure to engineer quantum states through nanoscale manipulation of molecular interactions and heterostructure design.
