Markus Gottschling is a Researcher at the Department of General Rhetoric within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Tübingen. He coordinates scientific activities at the RHET AI Center where he leads the working group Communicative Competence, focusing on how communication skills shape the relationship between science, society, and technology. Gottschling develops and teaches training programs in science communication for both the RHET AI Center and the certificate program Science Communication and Media Competence, which he oversees. His research centers on the intersection of rhetoric and science communication, with particular emphasis on how rhetoric and generative AI interact in co-creative writing processes and the development of Rhetorical AI Literacy. He also investigates the role of fictionalization in science communication and how narrative techniques reshape public engagement with scientific knowledge. His scholarly interests extend to methods of recontextualizing scientific knowledge, the specific challenges of communicating the humanities, and the relationship between space theory and narration in literary studies. Gottschling's recent publications and conference activities reveal a strong focus on AI rhetoric, with numerous workshops and talks scheduled through 2025 on topics like 'The Rhetoric of Generative AI,' 'Rhetorical AI Literacy,' and 'Persuasive Algorithms.'
