University of Erlangen–Nurembergمعرفی
Andrew Wildermuth, M.A., is a Doctoral Researcher at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg's Department of English and American Studies within the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology. He serves as Co-editor of The TRIAL: A Journal of Poetry and Politics and Associate Editor for Conversations: A Publication of the Margaret Fuller Society while representing doctoral students on university commissions.
His research centers on Nineteenth-Century American Literature, particularly examining aesthetics of malleability, sentimentality, and print culture's role in shaping liberal nationalism. Wildermuth investigates how material textuality intersects with affective politics across radical print cultures, settler colonial discourse, and revolutionary agency in abolitionist writing. His work bridges critical theory with historical analysis of periodical production.
Wildermuth's publications demonstrate sustained engagement with transnational radical print cultures (1820-1870), analyzing how periodicals like Freedom's Journal and The Cherokee Phoenix forged anti-colonial discourse. His scholarship connects 19th-century textual practices to contemporary concerns in algorithmic poetry and anti-fascist aesthetics, revealing enduring tensions between malleability and political resistance.
Scientific recognition includes:
