Zoran Slavnic is a Professor of Sociology at Linköping University (LiU), affiliated with the Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO) and the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS). He holds a dual role as Director of Studies and lecturer. His research focuses on the political economy of international migration, legal precarity, refugee integration, and the informalization of labour markets. Slavnic’s work integrates migration studies with economic restructuring, citizenship, and welfare systems, emphasizing transnational dynamics.
Education: Earned his PhD from Umeå University in 1995, studying refugee policy in Sweden. Previously worked at the National Institute for Working Life (Norrköping) and Umeå University. He has held visiting positions and collaborated internationally.

- Political economy of migration and informal labour markets
- Legal status and socio-economic integration of refugees
- Ethnic segmentation in industries (e.g., taxi sector)
- Neoliberal influences on research policies and data-sharing
Current Projects: Leading an EU Horizon project on return migration policies and a sabbatical-funded book project on 'Political Economy of Economic Informalization.'
Affiliations: Active in LiU’s REMESO and IKOS, contributing to interdisciplinary teams researching migration, ethnicity, and societal change. Supervises research on migration governance and integration.
