Haqqi Bahram is an Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Culture and Society (IKOS), affiliated with the Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO). His research focuses on statelessness, forced migration, and identity formation, particularly among Kurdish populations. He holds a PhD from REMESO (2025), examining the intersection of statelessness and migration through a standpoint epistemology lens.
Teaching responsibilities include the Social and Cultural Analysis (SKA) bachelor's program and the Ethnic and Migration Studies (EMS) master's program. His research explores citizenship theories, refugee policies, and the socio-political impacts of statelessness. He is part of the Global PhDs on Statelessness Network (GPS).
Recent work highlights the lasting legacy of statelessness beyond legal definitions, emphasizing lived experiences and marginalized perspectives. His 2024 dissertation and multiple articles analyze identity struggles of stateless Kurds in Syria, Sweden, and Germany.
Collaborations include a research exchange program between Austria and Sweden, strengthening ties in migration studies. Current efforts aim to expand awareness of statelessness through interdisciplinary approaches informed by both theoretical frameworks and firsthand experiences.
