Zhang Lixin is a Professor and Foreign Member of the European Academy of Sciences at East China University of Science and Technology. He serves as Director of the National Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering and holds leadership roles in multiple research programs. His academic journey includes a PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and postdoctoral work at Emory University.

Recent publications highlight advancements in porphyrin production (2024), CRISPR-Cas systems (2023), and metabolic engineering of Streptomyces for polyketides (2020). His research trends emphasize synthetic regulatory elements, thermostable genetic tools, and high-throughput screening methodologies.
