Zeth Isaksson is a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI), affiliated with the Department of Political and Social Sciences. He is completing his PhD at Stockholm University, specializing in Historical Political Economy, Political Sociology, and Comparative Politics with research focusing on how historical institutions shape contemporary political behaviour, particularly electoral support for far-right parties in Sweden and Germany.
His educational background includes a double Master's degree in Political Science and Current Democracies from LMU Munich and UPF Barcelona, along with a double Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Uppsala University. He has been a visiting researcher at the WZB in Berlin and the EUI.
Isaksson's research investigates the long-term imprint of history and state policies on political identities, with particular interest in how exposure to autocratic regimes shapes political engagement in emerging democracies. His methodological approach combines quantitative analysis with archival and historical research to uncover mechanisms through which authoritarian legacies influence contemporary political behavior across time and space.
His scholarly work has been published or is forthcoming in reputable journals including Party Politics, Electoral Studies, and Acta Politica. Under the mentorship of Professor Filip Kostelka, he contributes to debates on democratic resilience, voter formation, and the historical roots of contemporary political dynamics in Europe.
