Filip Kostelka is a Full-time Professor at the European University Institute, holding the Chair in Political and Social Change. He is on leave from the Department of Government at the University of Essex. His research focuses on political behavior, party politics, and regime change, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.

- Predoc and postdoc experience at College of Europe, University of Montreal, University of Barcelona
His work examines how political regime changes, institutional reforms, and contextual factors influence democratic satisfaction and electoral behavior. Key methodological approaches include time-series cross-section data analysis, survey analysis, and experimental methods.
Article trends show focus on voter fatigue, electoral participation, and historical political trajectories in Central/Eastern Europe. Recent publications appear in American Political Science Review, Comparative Political Studies, and World Politics.
He supervises students including Max Bradley (EUI), and his work has been featured in Le Monde, Washington Post, and Radio Canada.
