Dr. Zenobia Homan is a Research Fellow and Project Coordinator at King’s College London’s Centre for Science and Security Studies (CSSS), within the Department of War Studies. She specializes in nuclear security, conflict transformation, and security communication, with affiliations to the International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN) and Women in International Security (WIIS) UK. Her work focuses on CBRN terrorism, security culture development, and language policy in security contexts.
Dr. Homan holds a BA from Durham University, MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and PhD from SOAS London. She conducted research at the University of Würzburg and has field experience in Eastern Turkey, Northern Iraq/Syria (Kurdistan), Istanbul, and Erbil. Her career includes roles at think tanks analyzing cultural change, governance, and media in international security.
Her research explores intersections between language/communication and security systems, including nuclear deterrence rhetoric in South Asia and pandemic response strategies. She leads initiatives like King’s EVIDENCE Network addressing CBRN misinformation and co-authored The Oxford Handbook of Nuclear Security (2023). Recent projects include nuclear security handbooks for North Africa and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Homan advises on nuclear education policies and has organized workshops on floating nuclear power plants and insider threat prevention. Her work emphasizes culturally sensitive security frameworks and interdisciplinary collaboration between health, governance, and security sectors in conflict zones.
