Zainab Iftikhar

Zainab Iftikhar is an Associate Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn. She holds affiliations with the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), Collaborative Research Center Transregio 224, ECONtribute, and the Frankfurt Quantitative Macro Group.

Her research focuses on International Migration, Family Economics, Development and Growth, and Quantitative Macroeconomics. Her work examines the economic implications of migration patterns, family decision-making processes in economic contexts, development trajectories, and macroeconomic modeling approaches.

Dr. Iftikhar's publications appear in top economics journals including the Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of International Economics, and Review of Economic Dynamics. Her recent work analyzes spatial inequality in the Democratic Republic of Congo and investigates the relationship between immigration and native labor market outcomes in Germany.

She provides research mentorship through her position at the University of Bonn and maintains active collaborations with multiple research centers across Europe.
