Zainab Cheema is an Assistant Professor of Early World Literature at the Department of Language & Literature, College of Arts & Sciences, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). She joined FGCU in 2020 after teaching at the University of Texas at Austin and American University. Her research focuses on global adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays, early modern Iberian travelogues, and early modern globalizations. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Comparative Literature from UC Irvine, and a B.A. in English and International Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Her work has been published in journals such as English Language Notes, Feminist Studies, and Shakespeare Survey. She actively engages in academic conferences, recently presenting on topics like colonial ecologies in Shakespearean drama and Iberian colonial literatures.
