Dr. Zachary Breig is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics at the University of Queensland (UQ), where he holds tenure. He is also the manager of the CUBES laboratory at UQ's Centre for Unified Behavioural and Economic Sciences (CUBES). Breig earned his PhD in Economics from the University of California, San Diego in 2017. His research focuses on behavioral economics, game theory, decision theory, and experimental economics, with applications to healthcare, political influence, and market design. He has published in leading journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Economic Letters, and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
His work explores topics including resource allocation under consumer-directed care, auction design, strategic behavior in repeated contracting, and the psychological drivers of procrastination. He has contributed to understanding decision-making processes in healthcare settings, biases in judgments, and the theoretical underpinnings of commitment mechanisms. Breig is actively involved in experimental economics and collaborates on projects analyzing contests, securities, and policy implications of behavioral insights. He is available for academic supervision and maintains an active research profile through the CUBES e-Seminar series.
