Yvonne Hindmarsh is a Principle Lecturer and Associate Head of School (Children and Young People, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities Nursing, and Advanced Practice) at the University of Sunderland. She is a registered general nurse with extensive clinical experience in ENT, gynaecology, family planning, and the private sector. Her academic career spans multiple higher education institutions in the UK and internationally, focusing on pre-registration nurse education. Her research interests include curriculum design, OSCE assessment methodologies, mentorship, and professional development in nursing. She has been published in peer-reviewed nursing and educational journals, emphasizing clinical skills and patient care education.
Her professional roles involve leading educational initiatives to enhance student academic journeys and nurse professionalism. She actively contributes to nursing pedagogy, advocating for practical clinical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. Her expertise in teaching and supervision includes the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice program and Nursing and Midwifery Council teacher training.
Ms. Hindmarsh’s work bridges clinical practice and education, emphasizing the importance of manual blood pressure measurement and patient deterioration assessment in nursing practice.
