Yves Lecomte is a full professor at TÉLUQ University and director of the Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health program since 2010. With a doctorate in psychology from UQAM (2000) and extensive clinical experience, he is a leading figure in community mental health services development and psychodynamic approaches to psychosis treatment.
His research interests focus on social reintegration of people with severe mental disorders, homelessness, suicide prevention among people with schizophrenia, and culturally adapted mental health services. He has developed intervention models particularly for people suffering from psychosis and coordinated the creation of five community resources including the La Chrysalide Therapeutic Community and the PART project.
His publications span approximately sixty articles and ten coordinated volumes, with recent work emphasizing cultural communities (particularly Haitian), natural caregiver support, and service organization for people with persistent mental disorders. His research demonstrates consistent focus on practical applications and knowledge transfer within mental health systems.
Dr. Lecomte has directed two mental health journals (Santé mentale au Québec and Filigrane) since their inception and created a third (Revue haïtienne de santé mentale). He has organized over twenty conferences on mental health topics and developed numerous courses using new information technologies.
His current projects include coordinating a natural caregiver support program in Grand Goâve, Haiti, and a professional training program in Port-au-Prince, reflecting his commitment to international mental health initiatives and culturally responsive care.
