Yvan Guy Larocque, CD, LLM, serves as a Clinical Instructor at the Faculty of Law (Robson Hall), University of Manitoba, teaching the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic externship. As Founder of Larocque Business Law, he specializes in Indigenous Economic Development and Governance, advising Indigenous governments and Economic Development Groups on corporate, financing, tax, and development matters across Canada.
His academic credentials include:
- Juris Doctor from Peter A. Allard School of Law (University of British Columbia) with Business Law Concentration and Specialization in Aboriginal Law
- Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School with Specialization in Business Law
Mr. Larocque's expertise centers on legal frameworks for Indigenous economic sovereignty, including business formation, taxation structures, and financing mechanisms for Indigenous enterprises. His work bridges commercial law with self-determination principles, notably through his co-authorship of "The Taxation and Financing of Aboriginal Businesses in Canada" (Thomson Reuters), which addresses systemic barriers in Indigenous business development.
Admitted to the bars of British Columbia and Manitoba, he previously guest lectured at UBC and University of Victoria on Indigenous economic governance while teaching Commercial Law as a Practicing Professional Instructor.
