David Ireland is an Associate Professor and tenured faculty member at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Law (Robson Hall). He specializes in criminal law, procedure, and evidence, with a focus on improving Canada's criminal justice system. Ireland holds both a JD and LLM from Robson Hall and has practiced criminal law in defense and prosecution roles. He currently teaches criminal law, evidence, and advocacy, and serves as Director of Clinics. His research includes projects funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), examining common law police powers and Charter rights. Ireland co-authored Privacy in Peril: Hunter v. Southam and the Drift from Reasonable Search Protections and contributes to robsoncrim.com. He is actively involved in initiatives to address wrongful convictions and access to justice, including the Pro Bono Rights Clinic and Innocence Canada advocacy.

Clinics & Leadership: Oversees expanded clinical programs at Robson Hall, including the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Pro Bono Rights Clinic. Advocates for experiential learning and access to justice initiatives.
