Dr. Yvan Guindon is a Full Research Professor at the Université de Montréal and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. He is a Member of the Order of Canada and a renowned figure in bioorganic and medicinal chemistry.

Dr. Guindon’s research focuses on the synthesis of therapeutic molecules, particularly free radical chemistry for novel synthetic methodologies and the creation of nucleoside analogues with antiviral and anti-tumoural properties. His work also targets polypropionate-type natural products for antibacterial applications.

Dr. Guindon has held leadership roles such as President of the Royal Society of Canada (2007-2009) and Director of the Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory at IRCM since 1994. He has also served on the boards of the Stem Cell Network and the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Carbohydrate Science.
