Yuyuan Shi

Yuyuan Shi is a Lecturer at Northumbria University, specializing in 3D weaving innovation and apparel technology. She holds a PhD in Technologies from the University of Leeds (2023), an MEng in Engineering from Sichuan University (2018), and a BA in Fashion Design from the same institution (2015). She is also a Visiting Researcher at RWTH-Aachen University, Germany, funded by the AROP Program, where she focuses on cross-disciplinary textile research.

Her research integrates cutting-edge weaving technologies with digital tools, emphasizing sustainable apparel manufacturing, zero-waste production, and functional wearables like sportswear and protective gear. Key projects include Scan2Weave (linking body scanning to 3D weaving) and biomimetic composites for performance apparel. Her work bridges traditional textile practices with modern digital systems, addressing both industry efficiency and cultural heritage preservation.

Yuyuan’s contributions span biomimetic material design, anthropometric data applications, and wearable health monitoring systems.
