Yingying Wu

Dr. Yingying Wu is an Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Director at the Department of Interior Design and Fashion Studies within Kansas State University's College of Health and Human Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Apparel Design from Cornell University (2016) and holds advanced degrees in Textile and Fashion Technology (M.Phil., Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2012) and Fashion Engineering (B.Eng., Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, 2009).

Her research focuses on:

• Fashion Technology: Application of Artificial Intelligence, 3D body scanning, and virtual simulations to apparel design and production
• Functional Apparel: Development of specialized protective equipment for firewomen through USDA-NIFA funded research
• Anthropometric Data Analysis: Using machine learning models and 3D scanning to improve sizing solutions for diverse body types

Dr. Wu teaches courses in fashion production and computer-aided design, while leading graduate program initiatives. She received the Exceptional Fashion Educator Award in 2022 for her innovative approaches to fashion education.
