Dr. Yuting Zhang is a Research Fellow in Sustainable Mobility at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) within the University of Sydney Business School. She holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning and Policy from the University of Sydney’s School of Architecture, Design and Planning (2022), and a Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University (2014). Her career spans academia and government, with professional experience in the U.S. and China, including roles at the New York City Department of City Planning and the Urban Housing Lab at the University of Sydney.
Her research focuses on sustainable mobility systems, urban transport planning, and housing policy, with an emphasis on bridging academic insights with practical policy solutions. Key areas include micromobility regulation, active travel dynamics, and equitable housing access for key workers. Recent grants include the 2024 Ignition Grant for shared micro-mobility studies and a Sydney Business School grant for micromobility parking research.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to urban challenges, including e-scooter governance, pandemic impacts on mobility, and platform economy effects on housing markets. She actively collaborates with industry and government to address urban resilience, spatial equity, and sustainable urban development.
