Yussef Al Tamimi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Legal Studies, Central European University. His research focuses on law and emotions, identity, belonging, and dignity in human rights frameworks. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the European University Institute, an LL.M. from Yale Law School (Fulbright Scholar), an M.Sc. in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford, and additional degrees from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His doctoral work explored identity and emotions in human rights law, earning the 2022 Antonio Cassese Prize.

Professional Experience: Before joining CEU, he clerked for Judge Pavli at the European Court of Human Rights. He has also served as editor for the European Journal of Legal Studies and Yale Journal of International Law.
