Roos Nieuwboer

Roos Nieuwboer is a researcher at the Faculty of Law, Private Law Department of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, focusing on legal support and protection for older persons with impaired decision-making capacity in the Netherlands. She is affiliated with multiple research groups, including the A-LAB Research Associate and Amsterdam Centre for Family Law.

Research & Projects: As part of the multidisciplinary NWA-ORC consortium STRIDE, Roos explores the balance between empowerment and protection of elderly individuals. Her empirical work includes analyzing court files related to guardianship and mediation in domestic violence cases. She has presented at conferences on topics like financial abuse of older adults and problem constellations in guardianship.

Publications & Awards: Her recent articles address guardianship law, dementia care, and symposium proceedings. She received a cum laude distinction for her Master's thesis at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Professional Activities: Roos has given lectures on adult guardianship and financial abuse, served as a copy editor for the European Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, and worked as a researcher at NSCR and Amsterdam UMC.
