Masja Zweers is a Lecturer in Migration Law at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Kooijmans Institute. She holds a Legal Research Master from Utrecht University with a focus on migration law and human rights. Her research examines the role of emotion in migration rights tied to parent-child relationships under the supervision of Betty de Hart at the Amsterdam Centre for Migration and Refugee Law.

Recent Work Trends: Focused on Dutch migration policy implementation challenges, including temporary protection mechanisms, deportation risk assessments, and asylum seeker accommodations. Engages with both domestic and European human rights frameworks.
Professional Activities: Taught courses on migration law and refugee rights (2024). Presented at public symposia on legal history and slavery legacies (2023).
