- Worked as a Senior Lecturer at Södertörn University and held teaching roles at Umeå University and Stockholm University.
Research Interests: Yurchuk's work explores the intersection of nationalism, historical practice, religion, and memory in Eastern/Central Europe. Her current project, “From Sweden with love: circulation and interpretation of Ellen Key's ideas about sexuality, love, motherhood, and education in the late Russian Empire and the early Soviet Union (1890-1930)” (funded by the Östersjöstiftelsen), examines transnational intellectual exchanges. She has also investigated the role of historians in Ukraine during the 2014-2019 conflict and the influence of religion on memory culture in her co-edited book Memory and Religion from a Postsecular Perspective.
International Collaborations: Yurchuk is actively involved in research networks such as the Working Group on Lived Religion (focused on Eastern Europe/Eurasia), the Slow Memory COST Action (studying gradual socio-political transformations), and the Visegrad Project (analyzing postsecular memory processes).
Public Engagement: She frequently contributes to public discourse, including analyses in Dagens Nyheter and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, linking historical narratives to Russia's war in Ukraine. Her work emphasizes how literature and memory shape resistance and identity in conflict zones.
