Yukun You is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo. She holds a PhD from the University of Oslo (2021–2024), an MSc from Lund University (2018–2020), and a BA from Shanghai University (2014–2018). Her research focuses on digital disconnection technologies, gamification, generative AI, and mixed-methods research. She is affiliated with the Digitox research group and has organized international seminars on digital disconnection since 2022.

Research Interests:
Her work examines the paradoxes of using digital technologies (e.g., detox apps like Forest) to facilitate disconnection. She investigates how gamification and design principles shape user behavior, as well as the societal implications of generative AI. Her research bridges media studies, HCI, and technology ethics.

Recent articles address digital detox app design, misinformation combat by NGOs, AI in journalism, and ethical human-AI interaction. These reflect her focus on technology’s dual roles as both a solution and a challenge in digital societies.
