Yui Sato is a Research Fellow affiliated with James Cook University and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), where he conducted postdoctoral research. His work focuses on coral disease ecology, particularly black band disease, and explores microbial mechanisms driving disease outbreaks. He holds a PhD from James Cook University (2012), supervised by Prof. Bette Willis and Dr. David Bourne.
His research integrates environmental and microbial factors to understand coral reef resilience. He has investigated disease dynamics in the Great Barrier Reef, linking environmental drivers to coral population recovery. Recent work includes studies on microbial mat virulence, symbiotic relationships in marine worms, and genomic analyses of coral symbionts.
Publications span topics like coral disease pathogenesis, symbiotic fidelity, and the ecological impacts of climate change. Yui collaborates with institutions like AIMS and contributes to interdisciplinary coral reef conservation efforts.
