معرفی
Young Koo Jin is a PhD candidate at James Cook University, affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. His research focuses on identifying genetic markers linked to environmental resilience in coral populations, aiming to inform conservation strategies for coral reefs under climate change. Supervised by Dr. Petra Lundgren, Dr. Madeleine van Oppen, Dr. Andrew Negri, and Prof. Bette Willis, his work combines evolutionary genetics and ecological approaches to understand coral stress tolerance.
Young’s educational background includes a BSc and Honours in Marine Biology and Ecology from the University of Queensland, followed by molecular genetics roles in Kyoto, Japan, at institutions like Kyoto University and the Australian Institute of Marine Science. His interdisciplinary expertise bridges genetics and environmental science.
Research Interests: Coral genetics, climate adaptation, ecological resilience, and conservation genetics. His publications highlight methods like quantitative high-resolution melting for genetic analysis and the role of antioxidant capacity in coral survival under stress.
Labs/Teams: Part of the ARC Centre’s coral resilience research group, collaborating with institutions like the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and AIMS.
