Yufeng Shen is an Associate Professor at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, affiliated with both the Department of Systems Biology and the Department of Biomedical Informatics. His research focuses on computational methods for human genetics and disease analysis, spanning genome sequencing, disease gene mapping, MHC-related autoimmunity, and pharmacogenomics.
- PhD in Computational Biology (2007), Human Genome Sequencing Center at Baylor College of Medicine
Research interests include:
- Genome sequencing and assembly
- Mapping disease genes
- Role of MHC in autoimmunity
- Pharmacogenomics
His work integrates biology, statistics, and computer science, with a notable contribution to the first personal genome analysis using next-generation sequencing (James D. Watson's genome in 2008). Currently collaborating across computational genomics and biomedical informatics disciplines.
