Li Shen

Li Shen is a Professor of Informatics and Deputy Director of the Informatics Division in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. He holds secondary appointments in Radiology and graduate group affiliations in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science (AMCS), Bioengineering, Genomics and Computational Biology (GCB), Epidemiology (GGEB), and Neuroscience. He serves as Associate Director for Bioinformatics at the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI), Faculty Director of the IBI Bioinformatics Core, and Co-Director of the AI2D Center.

Research Focus: Dr. Shen develops computational methods to extract actionable insights from complex biomedical data (genomics, imaging, EHR, biomarkers). His work integrates machine learning, trustworthy AI, and network science to address challenges in Alzheimer's disease, with emphasis on:
