Yue Cai Hillon is a Distinguished Professor of Management at Western Carolina University, serving within the College of Business and specifically the School of Economics, Management, and Project Management. She is deeply committed to experiential learning and community engagement, integrating regional business consulting projects into her curriculum and mentoring student entrepreneurs.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Strategic Management – New Mexico State University
- MBA with Minor in Computer Science – New Mexico State University
- BSBA in Business Information Systems – New Mexico State University
Research Focus: Her scholarly work centers on strategic management, entrepreneurship, and organizational development. She employs action research methodologies to explore how businesses and nonprofits can enhance performance through strategic innovation and socio-economic development.
Teaching Philosophy: Yue integrates real-world consulting projects into her upper-level courses, fostering strategic decision-making skills among students. She also leads international summer seminars and mentors students in WCU’s doctoral preparation program.
Community Engagement: Beyond academia, she serves on nonprofit boards and provides strategic planning and management consulting to regional organizations, aligning her academic expertise with community development efforts.
