Yubraj Acharya is an Associate Professor of Health Policy and Administration at the Pennsylvania State University, with affiliations in Public Health Sciences and the Penn State Cancer Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Services Organization and Policy (Health Economics) from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Public Administration from Syracuse University, and a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College. His research focuses on improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), emphasizing program evaluation, health disparities, and global health policy. He employs randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental methods to assess interventions targeting non-communicable diseases, family planning, and social protection.
Current projects include a National Cancer Institute-funded trial on breast cancer screening in rural Ghana. His teaching includes doctoral statistics and undergraduate courses on global health economics. He has prior experience at the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and Kathmandu University School of Management. His work spans Nepal, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia, with a focus on policy-relevant solutions to health inequities.
